Padraig McCaul & Grainne Watts: Whites Hotel, Wexford

Grainne and I will be exhibiting in Whites Hotel for 2 weeks during the Wexford Opera Festival.
For the first week (Oct 21st to 26th) our work will be on display in the foyer at either side of the reception. We will be at the opening of the exhibition on the 21st but will not be on the premises for the remainder of that week, but as our studio is only an hour away so we can easily call down if needed.

For the second week (Oct 27th to Nov 1st) we will be exhibiting upstairs in the Selksar Room, where Grainne and I look forward to meeting all visitors between 11am and 7pm each day.

Art Fair 09 at the RDS

Art Ireland is no more.
But in it's place Art Fair 09 makes it's inaugural appearance at the RDS on November 13th to 15th. It already promises to be a great art fair. I'll be posting details closer to the date.

Padraig McCaul & Grainne Watts: Wexford Fringe

Over the past 50 years Wexford Fringe Festival has run concurrently with Wexford Festival Opera. It is internationally renowned as one of the most vibrant and diverse Fringe Festivals. It boasts an eclectic range of activities including dramas, one-act plays, Guinness Singing & Swinging Pubs, historical tours, classical recitals, jazz, light opera, horse-racing, musicals, poetry readings plus 70 art exhibitions and much, much more.

As part of the Wexford Fringe I will be staging a joint exhibition with ceramicist artist Grainne Watts in White's Hotel, Wexford from October 21st to November 1st. Grainne and I work out of the same studios, Stylebawn Studios in Delgany.

An online catalogue of both Grainne and my work for the exhibition is now on view on my website - www.padraigmccaul.com - and will be added to over the coming weeks.

Glendarragh 10 Years On

I will be exhibiting at the Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray, County Wicklow as part of the Glendarragh 10 Years On exhibition in August.

I was lucky enough to spend my first year as a full time artist working out of Glendarragh Studios in Newtown Mount Kennedy. It's a special place and it's hard to imagine anywhere better to have learned, as a novice, about the workings of the Irish Art world than over many cups of tea in the kitchen at Glendarragh. Wishing Fiona and all at the studios the best for the next 10 years.

Summer Exhibitions

I have new work showing in a number of galleries this month, including the Hungry Hill Gallery in West Cork, The Western Light Gallery, Achill and The Clifden Art Gallery, Clifden, Galway.

The Hungry Hill Gallery have just launched their new website - www.thehungryhillgallery.com - and my new work can be viewed there or on my own website - www.padraigmccaul.com. If you are lucky enough to get to visit the gallery make sure to stay for a coffee and take in the views over the bay.

This will be my first year exhibiting with the Clifden Art Gallery and I'm delighted to be associated with such an established and welcoming gallery.

The autumn is shaping up to be a very busy time with exhibitions planned for the Wexford Opera Festival (October), The Art Fair 09 at the RDS (November) and the Edinburgh Art Fair (November), as well as the Christmas group show with the Bad Art Gallery in December. I will be posting details of all of these shows as they get closer.

Summer Painting Workshops

I have a number of painting workshops coming up in august and september on Achill Island. Full details can be found on the website. The July workshops were very enjoyable and have proved that it is very hard to beat Achill as a place of inspiration and beauty, whatever the weather!

I was down in Kinsale in West Cork last weekend for what I hope will be the first of an annual summer workshop. Special thanks to Sue for organising it. It is always great to get to work with talented artists and the workshops are a lovely way of getting to do that. The photo above shows some of the group in Kinsale working away in the Temperance Hall, Kinsale.

We have to start somewhere....

Welcome to my artist's BLOG.

One of the reasons I became an artist is that I find it easier to say what I want to say through painting rather than words. So I expect this blog to be short and to the point!

I'll be using my blog to post details and feedback on my own upcoming exhibitions and workshops as well some occasional words on topics that I think may be of interest.

Enjoy!
